For those who don't know, on a recent episode of Family Guy, Chris (The big dumb blonde kid voiced by Seth Green) started dating a girl with Down syndrome. During one of their dates, the girl mentioned that her mother was "the former governor of Alaska", obviously referring to 2008 Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who has a child with Down syndrome. Palin responded, calling the creators of Family Guy "cruel, cold-hearted people." Palin's daughter, Bristol, also wrote about them, saying they were "mocking [her] brother and [my] family" and calling them "heartless jerks".
However, Family Guy apparently has the full support of Andrea Fay Friedman, the voice actress who played the character in question. Friedman actually has Downs syndrome, and responded to Palin's criticisms in an e-mail sent to the New York Times.
"I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line 'I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska' was very funny. I think the word is 'sarcasm.'
In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life."

Ok, and now the opinion begins.
I fucking hate Sarah Palin so much. She really doesn't have a sense of humor. You have to have the mental capacity to understand jokes before you can have a sense of humor, and we all know she's lacking in that. And I'm SO fucking tired of her trying to canonize herself because she's got a Down syndrome child. Oh, poor you, Sarah. Just do us all a favor and crawl into a hole somewhere.
That being said, come on Family Guy. That's the best joke you could come up with against Sarah Palin? "Oh, hahaha, it's so funny because she does have a kid with Down syndrome." Not really. It only proves further how far Family Guy has fallen in George Carlin-esque fashion from clever boundary-pushing to curmudgeonly rants whose only purpose is to try to piss people off. It's not funny BECAUSE someone's mad, it's funny when it's clever, and funnier because some people can't get over themselves enough to laugh at it. THAT'S the true mission of pushing the boundaries.
